The Jones Company Builds the First “Green” Habitat for Humanity Home in Tennessee with Help from Crye-Leike, REALTORS®

Categories: News |

FRANKLIN, TN – For the fourth time in four years, The Jones Company and Crye-Leike, REALTORS® are partnering to build another Habitat for Humanity home in Williamson County, only this time the home will be built by “Green” standards. This will not only be the first known Green Habitat for Humanity Home built in Tennessee, but only the second known Green Habitat home built in the country.

The Jones Company and Crye-Leike, REALTORS® began work on the home at 400 Beechcroft Road in Spring Hill in October. This partnership between the two companies represents a $70,000 commitment, with more than 30 supply sponsors and over 100 volunteers per year.

The new homeowner will be Rockeya Turner and her four children, Arrionna (7), Asharria (4), Keelan (3), and Khaliah (9 months). Rockeya was born in Franklin and graduated from Franklin High School. They are active members at Limestone Missionary Baptist Church.

“I really appreciate that there are people who care to help others,” said Turner. “There are not enough words to express how thankful we are for this blessing. They are angels.”

The project is a result of the partners’ ongoing commitment to build four new Habitat for Humanity homes in Williamson County in four years. The Jones Company has made a further commitment to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars over the next few years by making “Green” homes a standard offering for every home they build from now on. Efforts include everything from using green suppliers and manufacturers to using ENERGY STAR® products and making it as energy and water efficient as possible. Every single family Jones home is now tested by an independent third party verifier and must pass the stringent guidelines set forth by National Association of Home Builder’s Green Building Program and ENERGY STAR®.

“We remain firmly committed to Habitat for Humanity and look forward to building the home to meet our “Green” standards, which will provide for substantial energy savings for the family,” said Richard Chapman, president and partner of The Jones Company. “Both of these initiatives are important to me and my team and we are grateful for the opportunity to make a difference to our community with Crye-Leike as our partner.”

The Jones Company and Crye-Leike partnership to build a Habitat for Humanity house together stems from a strategic marketing alliance formed between them in September 2000.

“In these challenging times for many families, it’s important for us all to stay focused and continue investing in our neighborhoods and communities,” said Harold Crye, Cofounder and CEO of Crye-Leike, REALTORS®. “The U.S. housing market is one of the foundations of our economy and we’re extremely proud of our association with Habitat for Humanity and The Jones Company to help people achieve the dream of owning a home.”

The fourth largest real estate company in the nation, Crye-Leike, REALTORS® was established by Harold Crye and Dick Leike in Memphis in 1977. Today Crye-Leike has a network of more than 4,100 sales associates and 132 corporate and franchise offices located in 65 counties throughout the eight-state southern region of Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi and North Carolina.
